York County and Poquoson both operate mosquito-control programs, but their work is organized at the community level. Mosquito Maxx provides separately scheduled, property-specific service for an individual home or business. Private service can complement municipal control and routine standing-water removal.
York County monitors mosquito populations, treats known breeding areas and uses condition-based spraying. County residents can also request a free yard inspection and may qualify for mosquito dunks or mosquito fish after evaluation.
